A dying breed, Fred has been operating from this very shop for more than 40 years. His is the longest running business in Melville, with nobody to succeed him, this shop maybe no more in a few years time.

Very nice! Is it just me or does this look like the store front in 7de Laan's intro?

It would be difficult to make a living, having to pay mall rent and running a barber shop. But for some reason, the malls in Pretoria now has barber shops. Ten years ago, I wouldn't know where to go for a barber - did it myself or visited a hairdresser. Today I can choose any of 3 barber shops within a 1km radius from where I live. And I know of some more outside the radius. What I find most interesting is that the barbers are staffed by young guys.
Rory Ingle: Thats good to know, so maybe there is hope for them still.
